Tanja Engelmann studied psychology at the University of Mannheim, Germany (Graduation April 2001). Afterwards she was a junior consultant at the Imagin Prof. Bochmann & Partner GmbH in Eppstein, Germany. From April 2002 to March 2005 she was a Ph.D. candidate with a scholarship from the virtual Ph.D. program "Knowledge Acquisition and Knowledge Exchange with New Media" at the University of Tuebingen, Germany. The title of her thesis was "Knowledge Acquisition with Information Visualization. The Impact of Dimensionality and Color Coding" (defended June 2005). Since April 2005 she has been working as a research associate in the Knowledge Exchange Lab at the Knowledge Media Research Center. From March 2009 to December 2012 Tanja Engelmann was a scholarship holder of the "Margarete von Wrangell-Habilitationsprogramm", funded by the Ministry of Science, Research, and Arts Baden-Wuerttemberg and of the European Social Fund. Since January 2013 she is leading the junior lab “Group Awareness in Teams” for which she secured funding on a competitive basis within the “Women in Scientific Leading Positions” framework of the SAW-Procedure 2013 of the German pact for research and innovation. In addition, she oversees the follow-up research project “Factors of Self-Creating Digital Concept Maps for Fostering Knowledge and Information Awareness and Problem-Solving Performance in Virtual Groups” funded by the DFG and is involved in further projects with national and international cooperation partners.
